Apparently some vegans are telling people not to eat honey to support bees.STOP. STOP NOW.DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW BEES WORK?Buy honey (local if possible) -> support beekeepers -> support bees.I swear people don’t even think this stuff out. Beekeepers provide bees with an environment in which they can live, and are encouraged to thrive. Bees then have a big huge giant person who can deal with any threats to the hive. Yes, honey is a winter food supply for bees, but beekeepers (unless they’re dicks, in which case they’d be shooting themselves in the foot) will NEVER take too much honey from a hive, and will always ensure that bees have enough food. Think about it, you’re not going to starve a source of income/hobby, are you?So now.Support beekeepers.Support bees.buzz.

I had to reblog just for “DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW BEES WORK?" because it made me realize that some people really don’t!

Reblogging for my bee brethren!

I had a (white) vegan coworker look me in the eyes and say “bees are slaves” once. i was like dude. do you not understand that bees can literally leave anytime they want. if they don’t have enough food, THEY LEAVE and they go somewhere else. they’re bugs. how the fuck are you going to keep thousands of bees trapped in exactly one place. bees are incredibly capable animals ok

TIMELAPSE GIFS OF THE BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Corpse Flower is named for the terrible stench it gives off to trick beetles and flies (who actually like rotting flesh because that’s where they lay their eggs) into pollinating it. On or around the one night it blooms, it heats up to about 90°F to help the odor chemicals evaporate and spread.

The Corpse Flower’s latin name is Amorphophallus titanum. Can you guess what that means? (Hint: yes, the word phallus is in there.)

Here’s a couple more pretty pictures from The Huntington:
